The scandal occurred in November 2022, and since then, the StockX store has removed the word "authenticated" from its website. Nike confirmed the shoes were fake by visiting dealers and inspecting the sneakers.
Nike has launched legal action against StockX over its Vault NFT collection for the resale market, which includes a series of digital renderings of coveted sneakers such as the sacai x KAWS x Nike Blazer Low and the Bad Bunny adidas collaboration.
The lawsuit escalated on May 10, when Nike's attorneys at DLA Piper LLP filed a court filing stating that Nike wanted to strengthen its case against StockX.
Not content with just taking down StockX’s fake shoe NFT collection, Nike is also taking aim at what it calls “StockX’s counterfeiting activity.”
StockX does acknowledge, however, that counterfeit products can slip through its review process.
